For several weeks the ministers and Kiwanians of Elkin have been planning for a Billy Sunday meeting here. Last Saturday a delegation representing the ministers and Kiwanians went to Winston-Salem and extended a personal invitation to the great evangelist.
The invitation was taken under consideration, and Monday President W.G Miller of the Kiwanis club received a letter advising him of Mr. Sunday’s acceptance of the invitation. The date was set for Monday, the 27th, at 10:30 o’clock. One of the warehouses here is being put in condition to accommodate the mammoth crowd that will be on hand to see and hear the man whom they have heard and read so much about.
It is estimated that between 4,000 and 5,000 people can be accommodated in the auditorium which is being seated and equipped for this meeting. The people of Elkin invite all people in this section to come in for this great event. The committee on arrangements is planning to make every effort to see to it that everybody gets an equal opportunity to hear Mr. Sunday. Seats will be reserved for the aged people. For them a section will be reserved. The meeting will begin promptly on schedule time. In keeping with the custom of the evangelist, a free will offering will be taken during the meeting, all of which goes to that great Christian institution at Winoma Lake, Ind., which is largely supported by Mr. Sunday.
Mr. Sunday does not know how many of these outside trips he will be able to make during his stay in Winston-Salem, and it is the opportunity which thousands of people in this section may never have again. Take a day off and let’s make it a big Sunday day in Elkin, Monday, next Monday, the 27th, at 10:30 o’clock.
