Fairmont soon will have some well-paved and well-lighted streets. Its paving program, about 14,000 square yards at a cost of some $65,000, will be completed in about six weeks. This will give paved streets from the railroad to Cottage on the principal business street, from Main to beyond the school building, and from Main to the warehouses.
An up-to-date light plant has been installed and it is understood that soon the town will have a “white way” on Main street.
Fairmont is one of the best of Robeson’s smaller towns. In spite of recent crop failures it is going ahead with improvements. It is in the midst of a fine farming section and with good crops this year the “hard times” of the past few months will be forgotten.
