Barton R. Brown, aged 83, died Sunday night at his home at Hamptonville, in Yadkin County. He was the grandfather of Stantford Martin, editor of the Winston-Salem Journal, and uncle of Frank A. Hampton, secretary to Senator Simmons. Mr. Brown was a school teacher for 50 years member of the legislature during Zeb Bance’s administration and for years was chairman of the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners.
