Trial of Gaston Oliver, Accused of Killing James Woodard Thanksgiving Day, Postponed Until March, Dec. 18, 1925

Gaston Oliver to be Tried in March. . . The Case is Postponed on Account of the Illness of the Boy’s Mother. . . Is Allowed Bail

The Superior Court in session here is speeding away with all possible haste. On Thursday of court week Gaston Oliver, who is charged with the killing of James Woodard, which resulted from a gunshot wound inflicted on Thanksgiving day near the home of the boys near Pine Level, was represented by Judge F.H. Brooks, who stated that owing to the illness of the boy’s mother at the present time that the defendant would not be ready for trial at this term of court. After a statement from the solicitor that the defendant would not be tried for any greater crime than second degree murder, the boy was allowed to give bail in the amount of $1,000. Judge Brooks announced that he could give the bond and that all would be ready for trial at the March term of court.
