From The Guilfordian, the Guilford College student newspaper, Nov. 20,
1918
The
feminist movement has surely struck Guilford hard. This is the day when women
are doing men’s work but who would have supposed that the girls would have
taken over the three activities formerly considered purely masculine
prerogative. Within the short space of Friday and Saturday of last week we
witnessed a feminine minstrel show at Memorial, a girl’s baseball game on Hobbs
field and a girls’ serenade in the darkness before Cox Hall. Verily the world
moves. Who would have it otherwise. Some day the older girls may receive as
much freedom as mature young ladies of this day and the generation are entitled
to.
