Col. A.C. Macomb, who was retired on his 64th
birthday on October 17, has been reassigned as commanding officer of Camp
Greene. The order came this week from Washington, stating that the colonel was
re-enlisted for active duty and assigned as commander of the camp.
Several officers from the engineering corps, and a part of
them men with overseas service, have arrived at the camp with the understanding
that 5,000 engineers will be brought.
Captain Harold Carney left on a 90-day sick leave Nov. 1st.
He will spend his time in the New England states.
First Lieut. Warren Edward Fulmer joined Nov. 2nd
from Columbia, S.C. Assigned to the surgical service
Captain William Bernard McKenna joined Nov. 3 from
Pittsburg, Pa., for temporary duty on the surgical service.
First Lieut. John Higgins joined from Sayre, Pa., for duty
Oct. 30th. Assigned to the surgical service.
Captains Johnson, Stockard and First Lieut. Corbins
transferred Nov. 4th to Hoboken, N.J., for over-seas duty.
Captain Ellen returned to duty Oct. 31st after a
five-day leave.
Captain Watt returned from leave Nov. 3rd.
Capt. John W.C. Jones joined Nov. 5th from
Newport News, Va., for duty on the surgical service.
Among the new officers to join the surgical staff are Major
Hatfield, Captain McKenna, and Lieutenants Fulmer, Higgins and Willis.
Everybody expresses regret to learn that Captain Cook has received
orders to proceed to Boston and greatly appreciates his work during his stay
here. We wish him success always. Captain Long will succeed Captain Clark.
Miss Sanor has re-joined the surgery and every now and then
Miss Kelly pays us a visit with greatest desire to remain. Captain Reichers and
Lieutenant Schleussner are the latest scholars of “The Hunt System.”
First Lieutenant Fern Champenois joined Oct. 31st
for temporary duty from Camp Greenleaf, Ga., and was assigned to the surgical
service.
