by General Crowder
Washington, Nov. 11—President Wilson will read the terms of
the armistice before the joint session of Congress today. So few members have
returned from their vacation on account of the elections that it is difficult
to secure enough to make a quorum. All the city have been hastily called into
the session at one o’clock.
President Issues
Proclamation
Washington, Nov. 11—President Wilson issued a proclamation
announcing the conclusion of hostilities at ten o’clock this morning from the
White House. It announced that the armistice had been signed by the existing
German government representing the people of that country. The President said, “My
fellow countrymen, the armistice was signed this morning. Everything for which
America has fought has been assured. It will not be our solemn duty to assist
by friendly counsel and generous aid the establishment of peace throughout the
world.”
