Mrs. R.W. House Dead
Mrs. Ralph W. House of Oak City died Monday night of influenza. She was Miss Susie Burnette before her marriage, daughter of the late Thomas B. Burnette of near Oak City, and married Mr. Ralph W. House five years ago. She leaves one little son to mourn her death with his father. She was a woman of splendid character and had a host of friends in her community. Besides her husband and little child she leaves two sisters and three brothers, Miss Lonie May Burnett and Miss W. Savage, and Messrs. Thomas B., S???del L., and Marion Burnett.
Charlie B. Baker Dead
Charlie B. Baker died Wednesday night, December 7th, of pneumonia following influenza. He was the son of the late Chas. H. Baker and Mrs. Baker, who was Miss Molly Sherrod before her marriage. He was born in Hamilton April 15th, 1895, and was educated at Warrenton, coming to Williamston to live afterwards. On December 7th, 1914, he married Miss Eloise Meadows, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.t. Meadows of this place, and has made his home with them since. He has been bookkeeper for Roanoke Warehouse for several years and has made friends in the tobacco business.
He leaves his wife, mother, three sisters, Miss Lillie Baker and Mrs. Sherrod Salsbury of High Point, Mrs. E.B. Darden of Norfolk and two brothers, Messrs. A. Sherrod Baker of Detroit and Robert Baker of Tennessee.
The remains were laid to rest Thursday afternoon in the Baptist cemetery. The services were
conducted by Rev. J.F. Carter. Many beautiful floral tributes covered the newly made grave.
Williamston Locals
Mrs. H.G. Gardner of Murfreesboro is with her brother, Mr. Clyde Sewell, who is ill with influenza at the Atlantic Hotel.
Mr. Simon Rutenburg is in Richmond this week for a minor operation.
Alfred Ellis and Herman Peele have received their discharges and are home from Camp Jackson, S.C.
Miss Annie Lamb is with her brother, Mr. John Lamb of Wilson, whose family is ill with influenza.
Miss Janey Freeman of Wilson is with her sister, Mrs. P.B. Cone, whose family is ill with influenza.
Collin Peele and Arthur Perry are home from Camp Hill, Newport News.
Clyde Anderson, Roland Crawford and Jim Ed Harrell came home this week from State College, Raleigh. These boys were in the S.A.T.C. of that college and have just received their discharges.
Mr. Harry Jones of Raleigh has accepted a position with the Enterprise Publishing Company. He has been associated with the Robersonville Herald for some time and is both a man and a printer of high repute.
