Mr. J.L. Horne, editor of the Rocky Mt. Telegram, was in the
city today.
Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Clark are the recipients of
congratulations. It is a fine girl.
Mr. Ben Smith will entertain the Gold-Swindell bridal party
at a dinner tomorrow afternoon at the County Club.
The following attended the Goldsboro Fair dance last night
and report a fine time: Misses Lucille Anderson, Mrs. Tom Cozart, Miss Margaret
Gold, Mr. Kersey Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Jan Garber,
Messrs., William Wray, Erby,
Will Fleming, Ben Smith, Tom Grantham, Harvey Magette, R.T. Smith, Lester and
Wiley Rose, Berry Hinnant, Yancey Aycock, John Bernard and Mr. Keller.
Mrs. John B. Bruton will entertain at bridge Monday
afternoon at 4 o’clock in honor of Miss Elizabeth Gold, whose wedding occurs on
Wednesday.
Mr. Titus Harper and Mr. John Hackney have issued
invitations to a dinner party to be given at the Country Club Monday evening at
8 o’clock in honor of Miss Elizabeth Gold and Mr. F.D. Swindell, whose wedding
occurs on Wednesday.
Mrs. Bettie Miller and Mrs. H.T. Webb returned last night
from Richmond.
Mr. B.B. Brinkley, who for the past several months has been
located in Greenville, has returned to the city and will be connected with the
Briggs Hotel.
Mr. Artie Driver
Mr. Artie Driver of near New Hope Church died yesterday at 5
p.m. The funeral was conducted from New Hope church this afternoon at 3 o’clock
by Rev. Von Miller. His age was 38.
Mrs. Jennie Williams
Mrs. Jennie Williams of Elm City passed away yesterday and
the funeral was conducted this afternoon at 4 p.m. from the residence of Mr.
T.P. Cobb on Maplewood avenue by Rev. J.E. Stuart. The interment was made today
near Rose Bud church. The deceased was 34 years of age and was highly esteemed
by all who knew her.
