Mr. Lucius Magette
After an illness of more than two weeks the spirit of Mr.
Lucius Magette, a highly esteemed citizen of Wilson, winged its flight about
midnight last night into the great beyond. For 69 years he had made a devoted
husband, an indulgent father, and a devout Christina, and this afternoon at
4:30 from the home on Green street the funeral was conducted by the pastor,
Rev. N. Mercer, in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends
of the deceased.
A wife and seven children survived him. They are Mrs. Eva
Smith and Lucille Maggette and Messrs. Rufus Magette of Montana, Grover, Lucius,
Heba, Harvey.
The mound was left covered with beautiful flowers, and a
choir from the Methodist church sung a number of appropriate hymns.
The following pall bearers officiated:
Honorary
Messrs. C.M. Fleming, Wiley Dew, E.A. Darden, W.W. Simms,
P.B. Lassiter, and Allen T. Gay.
Active
Messrs. Elmer Oettinger, Thurman Fulghum, Donald Murray, Harvey
Ruffin, G.B. Walton, and Robert Dew.
