Edward Dill Sentenced to Electric Chair, June 10, 1922

Negro Sentenced to Electric Chair. . . Found Guilty of Criminal Assault Upon a White Woman Near Welhaven

Washington, N.C., June 10—Edward Dill, negro, who was found guilty by a jury of criminal assault upon a white woman today was sentenced to be electrocuted Friday, July 14. His counsel gave notice of an appeal.

The alleged attack was made March 30 near Belhaven, and Dill was kept in the state penitentiary until his trial for safekeeping.
