The colored people of Halifax County celebrated the 60th anniversary of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation last Monday, January 1st. They had a most excellent band in the procession and some of the floats were very unique, the Friday Afternoon club was much in evidence. They had a large number of marshals mounted on fiery steeds, and there were many large and small United States flags in the procession, which was a very large one.
