Saturday evening, March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, Miss Edna Coates, who graduates from T.G.S. this spring, delightfully entertained the members of her class and a few others at a St. Patrick’s Day party. Irish shamrocks, ferns and flowers carrying out a green and white color scheme were used as decorations.
Miss Coates met her guests at the door and carried them immediately to kiss the Blarney stone, which is said to make those who kiss it proficient in flattery.
Then the hostess gave the members of the senior class paper caps with shamrock decorations to wear, giving the other guests an attractive band. A “Pat” contest was engaged in, Mrs. R.B. John being the winner and receiving a pipe as a prize.
A bubble contest then furnished quite a bit of fun, until delicious refreshments consisting of green and white block ice cream were served by Misses Nellie Grantham, Edna Hildebrand and Marjorie Johnson.
Those present on this happy occasion: Irene Page Stevens, Pauline Broadhurst, Ruth Brooks, Marjorie Johnson, Mary Avera, Sarah Patterson, Arah Hooks, E??? Hildebrande, Mattie Lassiter, Nellie Holt, Evelyn Wilson, Ava Wellons, Rose Grantham, Nellie Grantham, Mrs. R.B. John, Frank Skinner, Nick Avera, Norwood Holland, Chas. D. Springs, Tilden Honeycutt, Gilbert Grady, Morgan Broadhurst and James Davis.
