Between 500 and 800 people gathered on the banks of the Pasquotank River at the “Old Brick House” near the city, Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock to witness the baptismal service of those who recently united with Calvary Baptist Church.
The service was in charge of the pastor, Rev. R.F. Hall, and consisted of Scripture reading, prayer and singing, after which the candidates were baptized. The service was very beautiful and impressive.
The following ones were baptized: Mrs. Stella Sawyer, Mrs. Laura Ritter, Willie Mae Tatum, Sam Davis Jr., Edward Davenport, Irvin Forbs, W.J. Taylor, E.E. Clark, Cecil Jennings, Wilson Brothers, and Robert Parker.
There are others to be baptized at a later date.
