Rev. Charles Scovil Holds First Service at All Saints Episcopal Church, Oct. 8, 1923

Rev. Charles R. Scovil

The new rector held his first service in All Saints Episcopal Church on Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. The Holy Communion was celebrated and the service was inspiring and beautiful in every way.

The sermon from the text, “What is that to thee? Follow thou me,” was well thought and driven home in a forceful manner.

Mr. Scovil comes from California, and although a comparatively young man, has made a name for himself in that State. He has given particular attention to the educational work of the church and will act as field Secretary for educational work in this diocese in addition to his duties in Concord.

The music yesterday was unusually fine, Mr. Sam Goodman at the organ and Mrs. H.G. Gibson and Miss Rose Harris assisting the regular choir.

All Saints Parish, and the town at large, are very fortunate in securing a man of Mr. Scovil’s spirituality and practical ability.
