Following a petition in bankruptcy brought by Mr. A.W. McNair, an attorney of Tarboro representing creditors Messrs. Stalling and Strickland, Tarboro street merchants, Saturday night made an assignment for the benefit of creditors.
This firm has assets and liabilities about equal, around $12,000, according to the announcement of Mr. O.P. Dickinson, their attorney, this morning. They hope to straighten up their affairs in a short while and resume business.
Poor collections are given as the cause of the ?? (word obscured). the firm has been in business for some time, and their forced assignment is regretted by their many friends, who will hope for an early resumption of their business.
