W.W. Williams Has Died, Aug. 12, 1924

Mr. W.W. Williams Dies at His Home in Bear Grass

Mr. W.W. Williams of Bear Grass died at his home Saturday morning about 11 o’clock after an illness of several weeks. He had been suffering from a complication of diseases for some months but had not been confined to his room until recently.

He had almost reached the full score of man’s allotted time, being almost 70 years of age. “Uncle Billy,” as he was familiarly known,communicated with any church but was a believer in the Primitive Baptist creed. He was an active member of the Charitable Brotherhood, a fraternal organization for many years. He was a man who loved his neighbors and was himself loved by a large circle of friends and relatives.

About 45 years ago, he married Miss Celia Bailey and she with five daughters and one son survives him. The children are Mrs. Sarah M. Whitaker of Greenville, Mrs. Amanda Bullock of Robersonville, Mrs. Myrtle Beacham of Washington, Mrs. Mark Crisp of Greenville and Miss Annie Bell Williams of Bear Grass, and Mr. James H. Williams of Belhaven.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon with Elders B.S. Cowing and John N. Rogerson officiating at the home and the Charitable Brotherhood taking charge of the interment which was at the Bailey Family Cemetery.
