Winston-Salem, Dec. 8—Mrs. Annie Snipes, youthful widow of Bruce Snipes who disappeared four years ago, and ?? Phillips, a family friend, were held ?? county jail ??without bail pending investigation into the ?? of Snipes whose skeleton was found in an old well on a farm near here several days ago. Officers are searching for Moody O’Neal, who was reared in the Snipes home.
?? arrests were made on recommendation of the coroner who field a report of his findings with the clerk of court Saturday night. The verdict was that Bruce Snipes came to his death “from a blow to the head inflicted by some heavy instrument.” The coroner recommended that Mrs. Snipes, Phillips and ?? be taken into custody pending an investigation.
Officials today were silent as to the ?? they have uncovered regarding circumstances surrounding the death of Snipes, who was 21 years old and had been married but a few months when he disappeared. O’Neal has been seen only a few times since Snipes disappeared ?? Mrs. Snipes for Phillips would ?? today.
