The massive iron door of the ell in the county jail swung open yesterday morning at 9 o’clock and June Potter walked out into the sunlight of a glorious spring day after having convinced county authorities beyond a reasonable doubt that he was innocent of any connection with the brutal slaying of Dave Hoban last Sunday night.
Within an hour after Potter had been exonerated as a suspect in the foul murder that has set the community agog, Sheriff W.D. Grant was in long distance conversations with Governor A.W. McLean at the capital, and after the sheriff had explained the circumstances surrounding the mysterious slaying of Dave Hoban, Governor McLean authorized Sheriff Grant to offer a reward of $400 for information leading to the capture and conviction of the criminal.
Two hundred dollars of the reward is offered by the state, and the remaining $200 by the county. . . . .
