A very handsome stone of gray granite is being placed in Elmwood Cemetery by the family of James Locke Erwin, who died in his home in Charlotte a year ago. Mr. Erwin was president of the Oxford Cotton Mill for several years and was greatly beloved in Oxford. His two sons are buried in the family plot beside the grave of their father, who whom the beautiful Memorial is being erected.
From the front page of the Oxford Public Ledger, March 4, 1924. Headline spells gentleman’s last name as Edwin but it’s Erwin throughout the article.
