Henry Allen to be Tried for 1917 Murder of Charles Vines, March 9, 1924

Alleged Murderer Faces Trial Soon. . . Henry Allen, Negro, Will be Tried in Pitt County for Murder in 1917

Henry Allen, alias Granville Plummer, alleged negro murderer, was taken to Farmville on Saturday morning following arrival of Pitt county authorities armed with warrants for his arrest under charges of killing Charles Vines near Falkland in 1917.

Allen’s arrest here came about in an unusual way. He was hit on the head by a pick handle swing by one Donnie Smith, colored. Upon investigation local detectives found Allen was wanted for murder.
