Littleton Hooper, 14, Nearly Blinded When Bottle Explodes at Orange Crush Plant, March 16, 1924

Little Boy’s Eye Almost Put Out by Explosion of a Bottle in Plant

Burlington, March 15--Littleton Hooper, a white boy of 14, is in the hospital here with an eye almost destroyed when in some manner a bottle yesterday exploded in the Orange Crush bottling plant here and the flying glass hit him in the eye. There are no particulars as to how the accident occurred, although an employee said that young Hooper was probably in the plant without authority and that probably a bottle broke on the bottling machine. He has some hope of the sight being saved, although the injury is serious.
