New York, March 14—Southern educational institutions are principal beneficiaries of the $2,065,583 estate of Robert K. Smith, vice president of the American Tobacco Company, it was shown in an appraisal filed today.
Mrs. Rosalie Wills Smith, the widow, from whom Smith had been separated, will receive a life interest in $101,627. Her interests will revert to the estate on her death. Several nephews and nieces are generously remembered.
Educational institutions receiving legacies include the University of North Carolina, Davidson College, Valle Crucis School, Ade Valley High School, the Crossnore School, Lees McRae Institute, and the Institute for the Education of Illiterate Children, all in North Carolina.
