William Lyons, who has been in the Wilkes jail and only lacked two days of having served the two months of federal court sentence of last November, in Wilkesboro, died at the Wilkes hospital last Thursday. The county physician, Dr. J.W. White, wired to Asheville court authorities for permission to remove him to the hospital as his term was so near completed. He had pneumonia. The old man did not at first want to go to the hospital. Dr. White, when first sent the day before, became uneasy; and on returning the next day, was convinced Lyons had pneumonia.
