Johnston County Winners at State Fair, Feb. 24, 1925

Johnston Takes $142 in Prizes at Fair

Johnston County people received $142.50 in prizes at the State Fair last fall, according to a report from E.V. Walborn, manager of the North Carolina State Fair. Seventy-five of the 100 counties participated and the total distribution of $10,191.75, the amounts paid to counties varying from $1 to $1,988.

Winners of premiums in Johnston County were:

Hugh Johnson, Poland China Judging Contest, $10

Minnie Lee Garrison, Smithfield, Home Demonstration agent, Home Economics, $5

R.W. Ethridge, Selma, Poultry, $4

Zuluka McCullers, Clayton, Art, $25

Mrs. B.B. Stallings, Clayton, House Furnishings, $1

Mrs. Berta Stallings, Clayton, House Furnishings, 50 cents

B.A. Smith, Clayton, Team of Mules, $35

W.H. Turlington, Benson, Swine, $49

Janie Edwards and Sally Herring, Jelly Making Club Demonstration Contest, $12
