Death Claims Clifton LeGrand Shannonhouse, Feb. 20, 1925

Death Claims One of a Family of 10 Sons. . . Clifton L. Shannonhouse Falls Victim to Acute Peritonitis; Buried Tuesday

The death of Clifton LeGrand Shannonhouse in this city Monday night brought out the fact that he was one of a family of 10 sons, and that all of the children of his father were boys. Mr. Shannonhouse died of acute peritonitis and was 23 years old when he died. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by Dr. N.H.D. Wilson, pastor of First M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. Daniel Lane of City Road Church. Interment was in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mr. Shannonhouse, after several months’ employment with the George W. Thomas shoe store in Norfolk, had returned home only a day or two before his illness, to take a position with E.S. Chesson Company of this city, where he was formerly employed. He had a wide circle of friends in this section.

He oved to this city some time ago with the family from Perquimans County. His surviving relatives are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Shannonhouse, and eight brothers, Gordon, Norman, Lloyd, Gerald, John, A.C., Archie and Roger Shannonhouse, all of this city. One of the sons of this family died several years ago.
