Washington, Oct. 2—Three thousand teachers and school children were dismissed here today for observation of preliminary symptoms of Spanish influenza.

The malady is continuing to spread throughout the country. One hospital devoted to special surgical cases took an influenza patient by mistake and 14 patients and nurses are down with the disease.
The board of health today ordered street cars operated with all windows and doors open. A new inspection of public places was ordered by the board of health.
