Nellie Irvin Elected President of Girls Athletic Association
The Girls’ Athletic Association of G.H.S. (Greensboro High School) met October 27 for the purpose of organization. The former president, Miss Nellie Irvin, acted as chairman of the meeting. Two names were submitted by the nominating committee for each office. The following were elected:
President—Nellie Irvin.
Vice-President—Frances Harrison.
Secretary—Elizabeth Transon.
Tennis Leader—Doris Stinnett.
Hiking Leader—Isabel Cone.
Faculty Head—Miss Mary Morrow.
The girls of the Association are showing more enthusiasm this year than ever before, and are planning many new projects. There is a new point system for winning letters. This system enables girls who do not make the team to get credit for their work. Letters may be won not only by the girls on teams but by others who do worthwhile things for the school. When 200 points have been won by a girl, she is given her monogram “G”. When 200 additional points are won, she is given her “N.C.” The girls are working hard on tennis and the finals of the school will soon be played off.
The hiking club is well organized and has been on five hikes. One was a hike of 12 miles with a camp breakfast after the first six.
The whole association is working well with all the pep of the girls behind it.
