I enjoy looking at advertisements along with reading old stories, especially when the ads include prices for food. W.H. Gurley Meat Market, East High Street, High Point, was offering the following 100 years ago:

Beef Steak and Beef Roasts, per pound, 25 cents

Beef Stew, per pound, 12 and ½ cents and 15 cents

Beef and Pork Sausage, per pound, 20 cents

All Pork Sausage, Pork Steaks, Pork Chops, Pork Ham, per pound, 30 cents

Veal Steak, per pound, 40 cents.
