Goldsboro, Nov. 15—Allen Carroll, a slick negro, stole the deed to a lot in the suburbs and then sold the lot to M. Sherman. When Sherman found the deed was bogus, High Constable Cuddington arrested Carroll. When the negro got in sight of the jail, he ran. The officers fired at him twice, but he made his escape and has not been captured.
