“Hell-block,” that section of Church street located between Main and Parrish streets, referred to by city aldermen Monday night in speeches attacking alleged immoral conditions in the city, looked as if dressed up for Sunday, yesterday afternoon and last night.
Swept clean of automobiles, through the ordinance passed by the aldermen, prohibiting parking in this block, the street presented a different view. Last night there was scarcely any one in the vicinity.
Whether the ordinance prohibiting parking in the block or the fear of police invasion performed the change, officials did not know.
