Fayetteville, Nov. 14—Frank W. Thornton, stock and bond broker of this city, who was for many years the leading merchant of Fayetteville, died at the Pennsylvania hospital in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon. Mr. Thornton had been in ill health for some time and went to the Philadelphia hospital a week ago, suffering from uremic poisoning. The body arrived here early Monday morning and the funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Hay street Methodist church.
Mr. Thornton leaves three children, Mrs. Thomas M. Hallyburton of Morganton, Mrs. Elwyn Zeigler Cole of Philadelphia, and Henry Thornton of Dunn, while a grandson, Rufus Thornton, resides here. He was 84 years old.
