Mrs. Merle Litaker of the clerical department of the Parks-Belk Co. is confined to her home on account of illness. She became ill Friday.

Mrs. C.G. Ridenhour returned to her home in concord Friday afternoon after undergoing an operation for the removal of her tonsils in a Charlotte hospital Thursday.

Mrs. P.H. Scarboro and son, P.H. Jr., have returned to their home on Ann street from Charlotte, where on Wednesday they had operations for the removal of their tonsils.

The Mission Study Class of Central Methodist Church will meet Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Mrs. W.D. Pemberton. Hostesses will be Mrs. Pemberton, Mrs. J.F. Haywood and Mrs. J.A. Kimmons.

Mrs. Ernest Porter entered a Charlotte hospital Friday afternoon and submitted to an operation for the removal of her tonsils. The operation was successful, it was reported to relatives here. Mr. Porter accompanied her to Charlotte.

J.C. Fink was advised this morning of the death Friday night of Will G. Beshamer in Gastonia. Mr. Beshamer made his home in Concord for a number of years and his friends here will regret to learn of his death.

Cobb, fast forward of the championship Carolina basketball team, has been elected captain of next year’s team. Bullock, one of the stars at Trinity, has been elected captain of the Methodist five for next season. Both of the captains will be juniors next year.

Mr. James Farrell Petrea, who has been employed by the Kerr Bleachery of this city, has resigned that position and has accepted the position as office manager for the Health-Game Laboratories Inc. of Greensboro, and commences work on his new job March 15th.

Otis Powell, young man of Kannapolis who is alleged to have struck a little Kannapolis girl with an auto and killed her, was given a preliminary hearing in Kannapolis Thursday. The hearing was before ‘Squire Gillon and he bound Powell over to court. Bond was fixed at the sum of $1,000, which so far Powell has been unable to raise.

A number of defendants were found guilty in recorder’s court Friday, in addition to two defendants found not guilty. a man and woman charged with fornication and adultery were sentenced to serve two months in jail, the man to be sent to the chain gang and the woman to the county home. For resisting arrest, one may paid $25 and costs, and another paid $15 for an affray.
