A large warehouse of the Widenhouse company at Kannapolis was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon about 5 o’clock. The report (that) reached Concord stated “Kannapolis burning,” but the fire was confined to one building.
The Concord fire department answered the call from Kannapolis but the Kannapolis firemen had the blaze under control when the Concord firemen arrived. Hundreds of Concord persons drove to Kannapolis when the alarm reached the city.
A large quantity of flour, beans, and other groceries were burned in the warehouse, and two autos, which were parked near the building, also were burned.
