Asking Damages from Charlotte for Discharging Sewage into Water Supply, Dec. 6, 1924

Ask Heavy Damages on Pollution Charge

Charlotte, Dec. 4—Four hundred thousand dollars down and $50,000 a year as long as the alleged condition exists, is the penalty which Mrs. J. Watt Kirkpatrick and other citizens living on Sugar Creek would cause the city of Charlotte, Myers Park and the Stevens Company to pay for the alleged pollution of Sugar and Briar creeks by the discharge of sewage into the channels.

Ten suits by five different parties were filed in superior court yesterday, five against the city and five against the Stephens Company, Myers Park developers.

From page 2 of The Concord Daily Tribune, Saturday, Dec. 6, 1924. The name of the company being sued was spelled “Stevens” on first reference and “Stephens” on the second reference.
