Funeral services over the remains of David Hobson, well-known Goldsboro barber, who was found lying on a lonely Seven Springs by-road yesterday morning with his throat cut almost from ear to ear, and who died while being carried to a hospital, will be held this morning at 11:30 o’clock from the funeral parlor of Carl Stanley. Rev. Peter McIntyre, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will be in charge.
Following the services here, the remains will be carried to the Pinkney burying ground about 11 miles west of Pikeville, the old home of the deceased, for interment beside the grave of his father.
The deceased was one of the best barbers in the community and was always regarded as a quiet, unassuming man. He served during the World War, and the disrupting influences of army life, together with much affliction in his family, is said to have led him to overindulgences, and his sad plight has been a source of much concern and sorrow on the part of his many friends. He is survived by his wife and two brothers.
