New Business Bobbing Up In Old North State

The King Cartland Cigar Company Inc. with $50,000 in capital stock, proposed to build a large cigar factory at Greensboro

Barrels and fruit and berry baskets are to be manufactured on a large scale at Elizabeth City by the Elizabeth City Barrel Company, just incorporated for that purpose.

The Hanes Rubber Company of Winston-Salem has arranged to establish a mill village near the city for their employees. It will cover 135 acres.

The Bank of Newport has been organized and is ready for business in the town of Newport. Capital stock, $50,000.

The Blue Ridge Cotton Mills have been chartered to establish a cotton manufacturing plant at Blue Ridge. The authorized capital is $100,000, of which $25,000 has been paid in.

A broom factory is to be the next new industry to be put in operation at Mebane. J.L. Fowler is to be the proprietor.

The Collins Lumber Company, capital $100,000, has been chartered and organized at Charlotte.
Another knitting mill is to be established at Gastonia by the Glenn-McLean Mills Company, just incorporated for that purpose.

The Franklin Mica and Mining Company has been incorporated in Waynesville with $100,000 capital stock. The promoters of this company have already secured valuable mining property near this place and will begin at an early date the work of mining mica. This will be followed by other mining operations, as it is understood that lands containing other minerals have been obtained.
