Rev. A.C. Ormond, Back From France, Offered Pastorate at Hickory Presbyterian Church, 1919

From the Hickory Daily Record, Feb. 3, 1919

Mr. Armond Called to Pastorate Here

Rev. A.C. Ormond of Davidson, formerly of Gulfport, Miss., yesterday was extended an invitation to become pastor of the Hickory Presbyterian church. He filled the pulpit two Sundays ago and made a deep and lasting impression on all who heard him.

Just back from France, where he acted as chaplain in the American army, imbued with the ideals of Christianity during this trying period in the world’s history, and with a will and determination to make a fight for a better place for the homecoming soldiers, Mr. Ormond is a veritable live wire. Those who heard him preach here applied to him that word which he used in referring to the soldiers—pep—and it fitted him like a glove.

Mr. Ormond made a decided hit with the Presbyterians of Hickory, and if he accepts the call, they will be greatly pleased.
