Will North Carolina Keep Up With Texas In Educating Its Youth? 1919

Reports to date indicate that the constitutional amendment for a six months’ school term was adopted by a majority of more than 100,000 votes. And yet North Carolina will have to keep moving. The very same day North Carolina voted this amendment, Texas overwhelmingly voted an amendment increasing the state school tax from 20 to 35 cents on each $100 worth of property, and providing for free text books for all school children.
