Private Forest Holland of Buie’s Creek Back Home

Buie’s Creek, Feb. 4—Private Forest P. Holland, son of Mrs. Lillian Holland, who did his “bit” in helping break the Hindenburg line, has returned home.

He was a member of Co. E, 105th Engineers, of the famous 30th division, and left Camp Sevier for overseas service in May, 1918. Private Holland saw service first on the Ypres front in Belgium. Later he was transferred with the 30th to France. On September 29, during the memorable offensive he was severely gassed. He was removed to a hospital in Reading, England, where he remained until December 6, when he left for Liverpool, from which place he sailed December 14, landing in New York, December 23, on the Cedric. He remained in a hospital on Ellis Island for several days when he was considered sufficiently recovered to be sent to Camp Merritt, Jersey City, N.J.
