The battery composed of Homer Starnes, pitcher, and C. B. Williams, catcher, are the best seen on the local sand lots this season. Starnes has won several games for us this season.
Why? Well, because the following players back him up. Lomax in center field is one of the leading fly catchers in Concord, and Clayton is left and “Daniel of the Lion’s Dan,” better known as Smith in right, are no slouches either.
Nash does the hot corner stuff to perfection, while Parker dares any ball to try to get through his short field while he is on guard. Cain knocks them down around second and McKay is the leading light around the initial sack. Neal is a utility man who plays well anywhere.
We are not sure of how many games we have played, but we know that we have lost only two games this year. Last Saturday, we played the Loke Mill boys. The score was tied 3-all until the 13th inning. Cannon won the game 5 to 3 by bunching hits in the 13th. We are going to have a real club this year and next, so come out and give us your support.
