Defaulting Cashier, Robber, Murderer Sentenced to Jail, Aug. 23, 1926

Defaulting Cashier Sentenced to Pen. . . C. G. Morgan of Connolly Springs Sentenced to 12 to 18 Months Terms

Morganton, Aug. 21—Penitentiary sentences were passed by Judge Harwood in the closing hours of the August term of Burke county Superior Court, which has just been concluded.

C. G. Morgan, defaulting cashier in the Connelly Springs bank failure, was given a sentence of not less than 12 nor more than 18 months.

Other Cases

Otis Towery, convicted n the charge of larceny of goods from a Connelly Springs store, was given a similar sentence, and Bow Franklin, found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the death of his son-in-law, Charlie Smith, at Jonah Ridge, was sentenced to not less than four years in the state prison.

Franklin has taken an appeal to the Supreme court and is out on bond.

Morgan and Towery will be taken to Raleigh tomorrow to begin their sentences, it was stated at the jail this afternoon.
