News has been received here from the district home demonstration agent, Mrs. Estelle T. Smith of Goldsboro, of the appointment of Miss Flora Lee Carl as home demonstration agent for Robeson County, to succeed Mrs. R. E. Larence, who resigned effective August 1.
Miss Carl obtained her master’s degree at Columbia University and has had four years’ experience as home demonstration agent in West Virginia. She is considered well qualified for the office here, and county officials consider it fortunate that a woman of her experience and ability has been secured.
Miss Carl will report for work here on September 1.
The county has been without a home demonstration since the first of August. Mrs. R. E. Lawrence gave notice of her resignation effective at that time, and the county commissioners discontinued the office at their July meeting. At their regular meeting in August, however, the commissioners were swamped by the club women of the county who demanded the reinstatement, and so another appropriation of $1,200 per year was made for the work.
