New York, June 4—Disagreement in the $225,000 breach of promise suit of Miss Mae Sullivan against Millionaire Arthur L. Hoe today ended a jury vigil on the sensational case, which lasted since 12:45 o’clock yesterday. There will be a new trial.
After wrangling until 3 o’clock this morning over the merits of the story of betrayal told by Miss Sullivan, the jurymen found themselves hopelessly deadlocked.
Eight, it is said, believed that Hoe used his wealth and position to impress the girl to her ruin, four believed her an adventuress who guilefully squeezed out of the heir of the famous printer more than $50,000 he admitted having spent on her. One of the jurors admitted, after they had been discharged by Justice Gavagan at 10:35 o’clock today that at one time the jury stood nine to three for the girl.
