Chicago, June 5—Adlai E. Stevenson, ex-Vice-President of the United States, is seriously ill at the Presbyterian Hospital, suffering from a nervous breakdown. Relatives and friends began to express anxiety for him to-day, because of his advanced age, he being nearly 80 years old.
Mr. Stevenson came to Chicago from his home in Bloomington nearly a month ago and because of the crowded condition of the hospital went to the home of his son-in-law, the Rev. Martin D. Hardin, pastor of the Third Presbyterian Church. He was taken to the hospital last week.
