Isaac Henry, 26, Seriously Injured When Peddling Home from Work, Aug. 14, 1926

Injured in Collision. . . Isaac B. Henry Severely Injured When Bicycle Strikes Parked Car

Isaac B. Henry, aged 26 years, was severely injured at noon yesterday when the bicycle which he was riding collided with an automobile parked in front of the home of Hugh Maxwell, 494 Park Avenue. He was taken to Goldsboro Hospital where he was treated by Dr. Donald Cobb. It was declared that it will be some time before the extent of the injuries can be ascertained.

Mr. Henry was riding his bicycle and there was not any traffic to confuse him, according to eye witnesses, when the accident occurred. The front wheel of the bicycle struck the car a fair blow and Mr. Henry fell backward, his head striking the pavement.

Earl Culbreth of the Goldsboro Garage was passing and helped by another passer placed the injured man in his car and carried him to the hospital. Mr. Henry was unconscious and blood running from ears.

It was said that an examination revealed no fractures had resulted from the accident, but the young man continued in a state of coma. Mr. Henry lives in Georgetown, is married and has one child.

In Critical Condition

Since the above was written, a second examination of the injured man discovered a fractured skull and at 7 o’clock last evening an operation was performed by Dr. Donald Cobb. Mr. Henry’s condition was reported as critical. Eight hours after the accident he had revived only once, and had then just enough to recognize his wife and baby who called at the hospital.

Those familiar with the case are of the opinion that Mr. Henry must have suffered a sun-stroke or attack of illness which caused him to ride his bicycle into the automobile.
