Kannapolis Seniors Skip School to Pick Cotton, Raise Funds for Yearbook, Oct. 15, 1926

High Schoolers Pick Cotton

Casting aside the regalia of flappers and floppers of 1926, members of the senior class at Kannapolis high school appeared Thursday afternoon in clothing a la rube. Overalls, knickers, knee length ginghams and big bonnets were the styles. The motive for this style of dressing was to obtain convenience in a cotton field plucking cotton.

The afternoon was given to the high school elders to earn extra money in this manner to aid in financing the publication of the Kannapolis high school “annual” The Pioneer, and a neat little sum was realized.
