Lumberton, Dec. 10—Miss Elizabeth Frye of Red Springs was elected county welfare officer in Robeson when the office was re-established at a joint meeting of the county commissioners and the county board of education. The office calls for a salary of $2,400 per year, including expenses, one-half to be paid by the commissioners and one-half by the board of education. This office was discontinued in Robeson last spring and there was considerable demand that it be re-established.
