Fire last night destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Jenkins, No. 5 North street, and also caused slight damage to the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Grimsley, which adjoins the Jenkins property.
The fire started shortly before midnight and spread rapidly. Mr. And Mrs. Jenkins were aided by neighbors in moving some of the contents of the house, but many articles of furniture were lost. Insurance on the house and contents amount to $700. The building was valued at about $2,200.
