Carthage, Nov. 7—The condition of Chief of Police Williams of Carthage, who was shot yesterday by John McKinnon, alleged negro blockader, is much improved this morning, and physicians say that unless complications set in his recovery is assured.
John McKinnon, his assailant, who was captured yesterday evening, was found to be suffering from a pistol wound in his abdomen and was operated upon by Dr. J.P. Monroe and Dr. A. McN. Blue yesterday. While he is still in a serious condition, his chances for recovery are considered better today.
